Peru Surfing Travel Guide
This attractive 2002 guide to surfing Peru’s Pacific coast is comprehensive and well illustrated with over 300 photos.

Pitted at Cabo Blanco
Matias Guzman and Felix Bracco assembled this bi-lingual guidebook and it has a real local flavor. Spot descriptions are filled in with bits of Peruvian history, regional tips and things to see and do away from the beach. The maps in the Peru Surfing Travel Guide are not too detailed, but used in conjunction with a good road map, they would serve the surf tripper well.

The Guidebook
Regional summaries highlight the pros and the cons of each surf zone along Peru’s 3000-kilometer-long coast and point out hazards as well as offer advice on accommodations and gear. The rating system for each spot will also help neophytes stay out of trouble in Peru’s often heavy surf.
Well known breaks like Chicama, Pico Alto, Punta Rocas, Panic Point and Cabo Blanco are explained in detail; other really remote spots are also highlighted.
The English translation is a bit rough, but that doesn’t detract from the informative and welcoming tone of this guidebook.
Overall, Peru Surfing Travel Guide is well worth the suggested $30USD retail price to a surfer planning a trip to this fabled coast. However, finding a copy may be difficult. Amazon does not currently list any copies for sale and the publisher’s website, Surf The Planet, is a bit sketchy.
