A lot of cool rigs showed up in Morocco, but this trumped them all. The Unimog: a 1975 model manufactured by Mercedes Benz. It carries diesel fuel in two 210-liter tanks, giving it an effective range of 2100 kilometers. It has a 5.7 liter engine in six cylinders; four forward gears and two reverse.

Glynn Gillespie found this vehicle on the internet (at http://www.unimog.nl/unimog/ugc.asp?taal=EN, or http://www.unimog.net/ ) and bought it in Holland for approximately 9000 pounds sterling. This particular model was used as a fire engine in its previous life.
